Bark Avenue Resort & Kamp and Mission Animal & Bird Hospital are the culmination of a long time dream of Bob Cartin, D.V.M.

For many years, Dr. Bob envisioned a world class facility, where pets could receive cutting edge veterinary care as well as an unsurpassed resort experience.

The emphasis is on a beautiful, comfortable and safe environment, with a loving, highly trained team of camp Counselors.

Along with other community outreach programs such educational seminars, obedience training, and “Nights at the Dog Park”, we fully celebrate the “Pet – Human Bond”!

Erin McGhee
Erin was born in San Diego and has been in North County most of her life. She spent her youth playing with her dogs, cats and her horse Missy. Her love of animals has taken her to a career in animal care. She started at the Animal Keeper Pet Hotel as an after school helper. She worked and learned there until she came to Mission Animal and Bird Hospital in 1994.  She was the Pet Lodge Manager and Receptionist Team Leader at Mission Animal Bird Hospital until the move to the new facility in 2009.

Erin and her significant other, Robie, recently purchased their first home, which they share with their cats Baby Mow and Mister. They also recently adopted a terrier mix dog named Missy who was found abandoned in the desert. Missy and Mister became fast friends and typically are in constant motion. When Erin and Robie are not working on their home, they are sharing a love of hockey, music, video games and movies.

Regarding Bark Avenue Resort & Kamp and her role there, Erin says, “My goal at BARK for Pets is to be the premier pet lodge and doggie day camp facility in the north county area. I want to provide a “Home away from Home” atmosphere – a place that is safe and comfortable for pets to enjoy, while their pet parent is away”.  Erin goes on to say, “My favorite part of the day is when a pet runs in our door to see their favorite camp Counselor and their special furry day camp friends"

Becka Alcorn
Becka was born & raised in Oceanside, surrounded by a close-knit network of family and friends. She joined our team in the fall of 2007, working her way up to her current position as a Senior camp Counselor. Becka spends most of her work day in the office now, but loves the chance to get out to camp and spend time with her furry friends.

Becka shares her home with her two legged partner Mike as well as Tommy, a Jack Russell/Chi mix and Dylan, a black ball of mischief masquerading as a cat - both of which were rescues from Mission Animal & Bird Hospital’s Adoption Program.

In her spare time, she likes to read, play the piano & spend time with her family & friends. Other hobbies include camping, sewing, & antique hunting. A fan of the simple things in life, weekends consist of taking Tommy for walks at the harbor, drives down the 101, & quality time with Mike.

Becka’s long-term goal is to someday run a rescue, specializing in animals that other shelters have given up on.

He graduated from Grants Pass High School in Oregon, and is the middle child of three boys who grew up in Oceanside that were friends of some of the staff members at Mission Animal and BARK. When he was little he used to visit the old facility and help us out as much as he could.
